History

Picture
In the year 1820 in what was called Sandtown, a group of frontier Georgians built a log cabin church on this site to serve as the meeting place for the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Over the years our church has been also been known as Sandtown Methodist Episcopal Church South, Newborn Methodist Episcopal Church South, the Newborn Methodist Church, and finally the Newborn United Methodist Church!

We are thankful for our long and rich heritage of faith, and we are thankful for the way that God is blessing our church today!

Newborn Methodist (date unknown) a note on it indicates that it cost $3,000 to build!

Below is a history of our church produced for our 175th Celebration, written in 1995 by Rev. Charles Williams, who grew up in this church.   Charles Williams, Jr. drew the cover illustration.  It takes a little while to load - sorry!
